Alot of times he would be running across the middle. That man is a load to deal with in space. At least try and get it to him. If he drops it then forget it, its worth a try.

I do believe that when it comes to the "experts" making predictions, they just want to do the popular thing and pick the "hot" team. This bye week wast vital, and our guys up front will be charged to go, we saw most of our success early in the season when it comes to sacks and that should prove to be awakend once again with the week off no doubt.

Just about every day I come to read the articles as well as the comments.

I have to admit, I did not want to play the egirls either and have been a little nervous about this week coming up. But after reading these comments, I am beginning to feel a lot more confident.

I especially agree with FF's strategy. We all love to see the pressure and the blitz as it is more exciting and worked plenty for us in the past. But I think we need to worry about the short quick passes and screens when playing the eagles. That is what has always killed us in the past with them. Hopefully our front 4 can get pressure on their own a little bit more so we wont have to blitz as much as usual and leave a dump off to Westbrook as our linebackers just blitzed their way out of the play.

We can analyze this game to death. The bottom line is that most playoff games at the Division playoff level (this weekend is usually the best of the year in the NFL because of four games between very good teams that can smell the finish line) are determined in the trenches, by special teams, and by a very few plays and/or calls that go one way or the other. I like the fact that we have the best group in those trenches, a battle-tested veteran punter who is a great weapon in close games, and a quarterback who is not only the best of the eight left in the playoffs but a known winner in the clutch. I'd like to see the Giants address their weakness in kickoff coverage somehow, and make use of Hixon on returns as necessary. Then let the chips fall where they may.

One last thought. I keep hearing on ESPN and elsewhere that "the Eagles are this year's Giants". Okay, maybe. They were hot and cold. They looked like they were dead earlier in the season and managed to get into the playoffs with a little help from other teams. They beat an inferior team on the road in the Wild Card weekend. And they're hot and confident.

But there's a BIG difference. For our second game last year we had to go into Dallas and beat a heavily-favored team that was so confident that they may not have had an "edge" mentally, and had a quarterback who has proved he chokes under pressure and an O-line that wore down as the game progressed and couldn't protect their quarterback or sustain a run game.

The Eagles have to come into Giants Stadium and beat a team that is loaded for bear, still rightly thinks it doesn't get the respect that a defending Super Bowl Champion and #1 seed deserves, and is superior to its opponent in every part of what I have called the "core" of a team (O-line, D-line, quarterback). So the Eagles may be last year's Giants, but the Giants are most assuredly not last year's Cowboys.

I have to expect a close game because it seems all of the Giants v. Eagles games come down to the 4th quarter no matter who is dominating whom. But I think that the likely outcome is that the Giants win the 4th quarter against an Eagles team that is tiring from the pounding and take the winning margin from 3-7 points to 10-14. Precisely because the Giants know what they did to the Cowboys last year, they will not allow that to happen to them.

Conversely, with a good game plan in place, the Eagles offense cannot move the ball without big plays. I trust enough in this coaching staff to come up with a number of defensive packages that will limit those big plays and force McNabb into sustaining long drives down the field, which I do not think the Eagles offense can do consistently throughout the game.

I also agree that the rest is key. Remember, Dallas pounded when Suebert had the flu and McKenzie left early with a back. Philly beat us up with Freddie nursing that shoulder, Tuck the knee and Phillips (or was it Johnson?) with the flu. Also, the nip and tuck affair with Carolina, was with the Tuck portion also nursing the flu.

And while you overstated it a bit (it was 10 straight against winning teams - games 4,5 and 6 were Seattle, Cleveland and SF) - it was the first time in NFL history (I think) that any team played 10 consectutive games against teams with winning records. That's one helluva grind.

Let's also not forget that we played half the Philly game without Jacobs and, in any event, he was still gimpy from the Baltimore game. He sat out Dallas. also, the extra reps for Ward only made him better. He was a stud against Carolina and very good against Minnie. Had we played that game to win, he easily would have eclipsed 100 yards again (and the team probably would have gone over 200).

Finally, as I have posted a few times, this O-Line always seems to have a slump sometime in every season. In my opinion, they did not play well for 4 games, beginnin g in Arizona and ending in Dallas. They were outstanding to say the least against Carolina, and they would have been just as good against Minnie if they had their usual opportunity to take over the game in the second half.

Bottom line, I think our running game will be as strong as it has been all season, the O-Line plyed extremely well at the end of the season and now they are rested. I think the offense can easily control time of possession. All we really should need to do is protect the ball and finish drives.
